and competition.

All Breed Draft Test March 2014

On Saturday, March 29th,2014  Keenai competed in an All Breed Draft Test
sponsored by the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Watchung in York, PA.
In spite of the very cold (45-48 degree weather), very rainy and windy weather,

Keenai completed the basic control test, the draft course and the half mile
freight
haul to earn his Novice Draft Title.  Keenai demonstrated his mastery
of the turns, 360 degree right and left circles, his ability to back up the cart,
go through a narrows, waiting for an object to add to his cart and then
greeting a stranger, dealing with a movable object, a sight and sound
distraction, a down - stay in the saturated and muddy grass field, then completed
a half mile freight haul with weights in his cart.  Keenai was the only Great
Pyrenees in the trial and the oldest dog  (9 yrs. & 7 mos.) in the Novice class.
He celebrated his title win by devouring a dozen homemade meatballs and
some cheddar and string cheese, then curling up to sleep on his Mom's bed
in the hotel that night.

Mom Judy would like to thank Judge Sara Steele, Coach Sue Van Ocker, Judge
to be Julie Bacon, Judge Barb Gibson, Charlotte B., Susan T., Christine PP., Beth S.,
Mary Y., Babs W., and Jill S. for getting me started in this activity, then encouraging
and supporting me from the beginning, through all the practices, the "fine tunings",
reminders, stewarding opportunities and then the wet, cold, windy and dreary test
day!  Thank you all very much!  We couldn't have earned this title without all of
you behind us!!!!
